I remember being put in timeout when I was little. When we would fight, my mom would put us in chairs facing each other and we had to sit there. We would always end up laughing and having fun. I remember thinking ha ha timeout wasn't a punishment, and we would make fun of her for putting us there (sorry mom). Now I realize what my mom must have seen, and that it did work! This is what I saw and heard the last time I put Malia and Gunner in timeout for I can't even remember why.

St Patricks Day Parade
We went to the annual Hillsboro St. Patricks Day Parade on Sat. This is the best parade because they throw a ton of candy and there are hardly any people there. The kids had so much fun. It was a little cold but it wasn't raining! We had to tell them to keep waving because we were all alone on our section of sidewalk, and our polite little Gunner just kept saying more, then tank you! He was also a little hesitant or confused because we kept telling him to go in the road. So he would quickly grab a piece of candy and jump back up on the sidewalk.

New color
Ian and I always wanted a red dining room, so when we moved into this house we thought we had the perfect room for it, which we did. The problem is we picked out a mohagany table and beautiful mohagany floor for the dining room too. The red we picked out didn't turn out to be the red we exactly wanted either. So we kind of got tired of the whole room, and decided on the spur of the moment that we were just going to change it. Paint is a cheap way to change, and we would do it if the paint was on sale, which it was. So here is the results. As you can tell with pictures of our house before we kind of got on a red kick, well I am kind of on a blue kick now. We bought a new blue and brown comforter and are doing our room that color too, but this color for the dining room is more of a grey/blue. So after two really good coats of primer to cover the red, we really like it (atleast for now). It gives the room a much better color contrast with the red table and floors.

We need to get out!

We got so spoiled with the few days of nice sunshine weather we had. Now the kids are going crazy not being able to go outside. It has been raining again this whole week...big surprise here in Oregon. Here is the latest trouble they are getting into. Malia said she was making a party. You can barely see how much paper there really is, but she ripped up a bunch and then they had fun playing in it.

My buff husband
Ian has been working hard doing some manual labor. We are going to sell all the wood from the trees that we cut down, but we can get a better price if it is split. It is hard work, and there is a ton of it! And he is willing to do it. What a good husband! He is getting a good work out though!

I'm a Big Boy Now!
My little boy is growing up! He will be 2 next month, but here are some things that have been happening this week.....
I can get my toys out all by myself!
When I am thirsty I can get a drink all by myself!

I moved out of my crib into my big boy bed with no problems at all! I even stayed in there for naps and everything! Malia showed me how to make my bed too! (She is the expert)

My sister also thinks she is going to potty train me. I have to sit on the potty every time I get my diaper changed now, before I have a bath, and when my sister is going.

I am just trying to fill my dad's shoes!

(Just for the record, he is not potty trained, nor am (I) even trying, he hasn't even gone once in the potty yet, but I guess he is showing interest which is a start right? And no this is NOT an anouncement that he is going to be a big brother, we were just tired of lifting him in and out of his crib.)

Lessons we learn...
So remember that earache that I had that scared the heck out of Ian a week and a half ago, well I finally went to the doctor today and it is an ear infection, I haven't been able to hear out of my ear for the past week. The only reason I actually went to the doctor is because I finally took Malia and Gunner to the Dr. today too. Malia had been complaining of a sore throat since yesterday, and Gunner was just plain onery! We also could see little white spots on Malia's tonsils, and thought we could see them on Gunner, thought because like our 2 year old would hold still enough to let us look in his mouth AND say aahh. They also woke up with runny noses.
So go figure, I work in the medical field, but hate going to doctors. I guess it is because I like to self diagnosis myself too much, or maybe it is because I see so many people that go to the doctor for things they can treat at home. Anyway I decided that I would take them today because of the weekend coming up. And sure enough, Malia has strep, and Gunner has strep AND a double ear infection (no wonder he has been so crabby and not sleeping well.) It's also his first ear infection. (that we have had diagnosed. )The thing I was so hestant about was neither of them had a fever that I knew about, and both of them were eating very well. Which I thought were two big signs of strep. So because I had a sore throat and earache last week their doctor told me I should be checked out so that our whole family can be treated all together instead of pinging it to one another. So Ian made appts for us with his doctor he has seen only a couple of times, and can you believe it, I have never seen a doctor up here (other than OB) in the over 4 years we have lived here.
The doctor checked my ear and said sure enough it was an ear infection, and Ian likely has strep too, but didn't even test him, just gave us prescriptions because of the kids.
So I guess I have learned my lesson, and now that I have seen a doctor who is conveniently 2 mins. away, maybe I will go to the doctor sooner instead of living with an ear infection for almost 2 weeks.

Enterprise, Utah

This is a cool picture of Enterprise (where I grew up, for those of you who don't know). My dad is the Mayor there and he got to go on a helicopter ride up to the reservoir. There is a potential for flooding this Spring because of construction going on with one of the dams. He got to take some cool pictures. The feed tower that you can see and the store there, is my dad's store...Brackens. Where I grew up working. Good old Enterprise.
