Cooper is 5 months!

Our handsome little guy is 5 months old today and he finally rolled over just this afternoon! (Well, he rolled over last Sunday from front to back, but it was almost just because he got too high on his tummy, and then never did it again)
We have come to realize how much our parenting has changed from Malia until now. With her we were constantly trying to get her to do new things, and she did everything really early starting with rolling at 3 months and walking before 9 months.
With Cooper we are like, wait don't start to be mobile yet! Because we have learned how much harder it is when that happens, and we are just having so much fun with him right now. He is at a fun stage we think.
He really has loved tummy time for the most part, more than Malia or Gunner.

For the past few weeks this is how he has been content to stay. Just hanging out on his side.

And then today he started plopping those chunky thighs over.

And then about an hour later he started going from back to front. Malia and Gunner were so excited and thought it was the coolest thing. We keep telling them just wait, it won't be long until he is chasing them around! They grow up way too fast!

He did it!

We went out on the boat again yesterday, the water was 10 degrees colder than last time at 75! Right off Gunner said I want to ski! Ian was in the water, and Gunner just jumped right in after him! It scared him because it was so much colder than last time, and I thought okay now there is no way he will do it, but he went right out and did it! He is such a stubborn little thing. When he gets something in his mind, you can't change it! I guess in this situation it is a good thing. :) Also after last time, he kept asking to see his other video on the computer because we had 2 of Malia the first when she fell, and the 2nd skiing. We had to keep telling him he didn't try again so there is no other video, the next time he has to do it.



I tried to get some of Ian, he had some awesome jumps, but I had horrible timing with the camera.


Then I tried (key word tried) to get some air..... 6 inches is air right?


And then this was Cooper's first time on the boat! The life jacket kind of squishes his fat little cheeks, but he did so good as usual!

Skiing

Last year we tried to get Malia to ski and even bribed her with a hula hoop if she would just try. Well she never would do it last year, and so the hula hoop stayed hung up with the ski in the garage. She talked about it off and on this whole past year. We went to the lake for the first time this year last week, and she dared try, and she did it! She got up on her 2nd try! She was pretty amazing!

And then Gunner decided he needed to try, I was so amazed that he would dare! He almost did it, and probably would have if he would have dared try a 2nd time. I was just amazed he tried even once.
(warning again, loud screaming)

The water was so warm! It was the warmest I have ever felt it at about 84 degrees! I guess the week of 100 degree weather did some good. I am usually a wimp and have to wear my wetsuit, but not that time! It felt so much better to be in the water than out. I feel bad I didn't get any pictures of Ian, but I thought he would go out again, and he didn't. So I will have to get some more later if we go out again. He is getting good at getting air! But here are a few on the tube. Malia was not loving the tube like she usually does, but Gunner did!
Then Uncle Alec, Ian and Gunner got on and had fun!

Cooper 4 months

While we were down there, Cooper turned 4 months old. A little bit about him...He still is a really good baby, and just goes along with everything we do so good. He is starting to really reach for things, and can hold things in his hand. He takes a binkie pretty good, but constantly has his fingers or hands in his mouth, and loves to blow bubbles. He loves attention and has the cutest little laugh, but is also content to just sit and watch everyone.




At his 4 month check up he weighed in at 14 lbs 10 oz. and 24 1/2 in long. He still has a little head too. He was in the 5th percentile for head and height, and 50th for weight.

Jeffy

Another thing about Gunner that started down there, I think when we drove up to Cedar mountain, was he started telling us about his "friend". It started out that his "friend" had his skechers up on the mountain. We are not sure where that came from, but he talked about it the whole time. Well his "friend" has evolved quite a bit since then, and now we know his friend's name is Jeffy, or Jeff, but NOT Jeffery. (He will get mad if you call him that) He still talks nonstop about him. He lives in a cabin up in the mountains on the "E" hill, and he is big like Dad, and he can do anything! You know you hear about imaginary friends, but I have never actually known someone to have one. So it is really quite funny to us. We still aren't quite sure how to treat it, because Jeffy IS REAL! Malia loves to tease him and say he isn't, but Gunner is so adamant about it. If I ask a question about him, Gunner has an answer right off. I guess the good thing so far is that Jeffy is always at his house, and has not actually been to our house yet, we will see if that evolves too. But in the mean time, Gunner keeps us entertained with his stories of his "friend".

I am going to start printing off my blog and so I guess I have been treating it more like a scrapbook, so sorry to all of you guys, it might be kind of boring. But I wanted to add a few more random pics from our Utah trip.
On the way down we stopped in Salt Lake and were able to see Ian's grandparents and let them meet Cooper. It was good to see them.


We got to drive in the ambulance with Grandpa, and climb on the fire truck! It's nice to have it in with the Mayor :)



We had to go skip rocks in the reservoir.



Where we saw some more "Chipmunks" according to Malia.

Then a 4-wheeler ride up to Pilots Peak.

An awesome slip and slide in the back yard.


And having fun in the rain.



All the guys left on a 4-wheeler ride up to flat top just as it started to pour. They got drenched but went on anyway. They even saw lightening strike and a tree start on fire, and being the good guys they are, went over and put it out. It's just a good thing the tree they were under didn't get struck. :)
And then of course more playing with cousins made the trip fun.

A lot of funny things happened too, like Gunner getting stuck in the mud.

It took us five minutes to get him to walk back out. Then he got really mad for taking his picture.

24th of July

So we got to be in Enterprise for the activities on the 24th of July. This is a bigger celebration than the 4th there. It starts out with the fun run. Although I don't know how fun it is :) My sister-in-law and I ran the 5k. We did pretty good for not training very much. It is also a lot harder to run at 5300 ft compared to 200ft here, but we finished in about 32 mins. That just gives us a time to beat next year...right Shemri?

Ian, Shemri's sister Ali, and my brothers Rand, Mical and Colten ran the 10k. Colten's wife Megan walked the 5k.

We all get t-shirts, and Ian and Colten even got medals.
Then we all rush home to try to shower in only 2 showers, and get ready in less than an hour to make it to the parade.





Ian's family also came down for the activities and to check Enterprise out.

After the Parade, there is a program. My family got asked to sing at the last minute some old Pioneer songs.
So here is my mom, dad, brothers, aunt, cousins, niece, Malia and I singing some old Pioneer songs.

After the program, we went home and had a yummy lunch, and then did a pinate. The kids loved it and a sexy guy ran it :)




Then we went to the races again.



They do a fireman pool there where they put money into a pool they have made with a tarp and tires, and then spray the kids as they try to get money, but it was so hot, and the races were taking forever, so we just went home, and Grandma put money into her pool and we sprayed them with the hose while they got it.

Then the last activity of the day is the rodeo. Malia loved it and even got dressed up in her little boots she got from her cousin. She got to go chase the rabbits and chickens and almost got one! (We were glad she didn't) She also informed us that she can rope! And poor Gunner fell asleep after 5 minutes of being there so missed the whole thing. I didn't get very good pictures though.


It was a great and tireing day!
