While it is definately not ideal to go to Hawaii and be in a swim suit right after having a baby, and while you are still nursing your 2 month old, but we made it work, and were just very greatful we were able to go! A Big Thank You to Ian's parents!!!
We weren't sure how Cooper was going to be on the airplane for 5 1/2 hours, but we had lots of hands to hold him and he of course did great, other than almost blowing out of his diaper, (we caught it just in time) and puking on me, and all over himself and Grandma. Good thing I came prepared with plenty of burp rags.
Waiting for our rental car
Our luggage
And on the last day, Ian finally figured out how to load it all, so I wasn't holding the stroller.
Our first 2 nights we were spending in Honolulu right by Waikiki beach. After driving around and around our motel,(the streets are mostly one way, and the GPS whom we called "Victoria" kept thinking we were on the next street over...a little frustrating at times) but we finally figured out how to get to it and a place to park the Expedition. When we went to check in, we realized they had us down for being there in April not May, and it being Memorial Day Weekend, we were lucky we still got a room, which turned out to be a mini suite. I think it still worked out fine.
Here was Cooper's arrangements, I thought it was a great idea to use the suitcase instead of having to bring the baby bed. He seemed to love it, and pretty much kept right on his schedule.
The first day we had planned to go hike Diamond Head, and go snorkel at Hanauma Bay We packed our swimming stuff and headed out early to McDonalds to get a quick breakfast. When we came out, Andree realized her bag was missing out of the 2nd row, and then I realized my beach bag was missing too. We knew they were gone, and that they were there before, but weren't sure how the thieves got them, because the car was locked. So we called the police and Mitch came to investigate and file the report. He took one look at the car and saw that the lock had been punched. So he then played CSI and took fingerprints, it was cool to watch, but we had all touched the doors after we had found out, so not real hopeful there.
Just not a great start to our vacation. The weird thing is, they only took the 2 bags on the 2nd row. Andree lost her purse, money, id, camera and her swimsuit. Ian and I lost both our new swim suits, shorts, sunscreen, and Coopers front carrier pack. They left the GPS that was sitting on the middle console under it's bag, and all the bags in the back which was all our snorkeling gear, the laptop, our two cameras and my purse (luckily I put it in Ian's backpack that time.) So although very unfortunate for Andree, it could have been a lot worse.
Filling out the report
So after that took a few hours, we headed to Wal-mart to hopefully find new swimsuits real quick so we could go snorkeling. Needless to say the whole rest of the trip we were paranoid about leaving anything in the car.
Now to some fun stuff...
Beautiful Hanauma Bay. With hundreds of different kinds of fish to see.
Like I said before, it was my first time snorkeling, and it took me a little while to relax and stop hyperventilating, but once I did, it was so much fun! Ian's goal was to see a sea turtle, and we did that first day!

We bought this little Sun Dome for Cooper, which turned out to work great on the beaches, even though packing everything around all the time was pretty hard.
We stayed there at that beautiful beach for most of the rest of the day, and we didn't end up hiking Diamond head (thanks to the thieves) :).
The next day we went to Pearl Harbor, but I will get to that later...

Looks like so much fun, other than getting things stolen. I can't believe how good Cooper was through the whole time. Usually babies that young are nightmares on trips!!
Looks like a lot of fun. I love the suitcase / baby bed idea. I think we might have to try that sometime.
Cooper is such a cute little squirt!! I love the underwater pictures-what did you use to take those?
