Trip Home

Grandma was kind enough to drive home with us on the long journey home. We had planned to just do it in two days, and so we decided what the heck we would take a whole new way! It made for 2 long days but some fun new scenery. We decided to go up through Nevada, but through Reno this time and stay the night there. Let me tell you, I am pretty sure we hit every little tiny town. Luckily we had extra snacks and were able to get gas in one town. Just before we passed through Sparks we just had to stop by to see if we could say hi to Elder McOmie. I was a little nervous because I didn't want to get him in trouble, but he wasn't home anyway. So we left him a treat and a note in his mailbox and went on our way.
Then we decided that we were going by Crater Lake and we had never been there. They had just barely opened the road up for summer so we decided to make the extra loop.
We stopped at this lookout point and it was a really cool view, but no one told us this was a straight drop off with no railing or guard whatsoever. Not very kid friendly!

The farther we went up, it was amazing to see all the snow!
We stopped at the Lodge and then took the trail.....in the snow...in our flip flops....down to the Lake.

The kids loved throwing snowballs and playing in the snow!

To see this in person is just breathtaking I think. It almost feels like an illusion.

We finally made it home, and for some reason a hike through the "forest" by our house is a must when Grandma is here.

Thanks mom! We appreciate you braving the long drive with us!

Love the pictures of Crater Lake. I've never been there either and I think it just got added to my bucket list.
