Food for thought...

So have you ever thought of what you would actually really do if you had an intruder come into your house in the middle of the night? Well we found out last night sort of. :) I got up at about 3:00 with a really bad earache. I got out of bed and went into the kitchen to get some ibuprofen. I opened the fridge and got a drink then proceeded to go back down the hall to our bedroom. Well as I turned the corner from the kitchen. I hear Ian start yelling AAHHHH!! AAHHH!! Then the hall light went on and he said AAHH! AAAHH! again. Then he turned off the light. He freaked me out so I started yelling AAHH!! too. Then he turned it back on and we both started laughing, but I was shaking too. Here is what we were both thinking. Ian thought he heard something so jumped up out of bed and stood in our bedroom doorway and was listening to see if he had really heard something when I turned the corner, and he saw me. He thought I was an intruder and he said he was trying to think what to do and was going to yell GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!! When he turned on the light, it blinded us both, but he still yelled again because he couldn't really see, but he saw that it was me so turned off the light again. So when the light in the hall went on, it startled me, but then I see Ian in our doorway squinting yelling AAAHHH! AAAHHH! At first I thought maybe he was sleep walking or just plain freaking out, or something was in our bedroom, then I realized I must have scared him, but then he kept yelling, so I started yelling because I thought someone was behind me! All this transpired in probably less than 20 seconds, but at the time it seemed like forever. It probably would have been priceless to be able to see the looks on both of our faces! We were so surprised we didn't even wake up the kids with all our yelling. So then we started talking about what if that was really an intruder, Ian said he probably would have started charging him, because when he first jumped up, his first thought was that the kids' rooms were closer to the intruder. Next time, I told him before he freaks out when he hears a noise in the house, he should probable check the other side of the bed to see if I am there. This may not seem as funny to everyone else, maybe you just had to be there, but I have never seen Ian freaked out like that before.

Oh no, that is freakin' hilarous! I'm seriously dying right now. I can't imagine either of you freaking out to the point of yelling in the middle of the night. Funny now, but I'm sure it was quite frightening for both of you at the time. Good thing Ian didn't pull out one of his guns!!

I am laughing out loud! That is the funniest thing I've heard in a while. I can totally picture the whole thing- what a great story!
And seriously- check the bed 1st.

Doug keeps a bat handy, so I guess if he doesn't check the bed, I'm liable to get "slugged."

What a FUNNY story. I was cracking up all the way to the end. I've always wondered what I would do if someone broke into our house. It's a scary thought especially since Jonathan travels to China every other month for ten days. Even if he was home, I would probably be the first one to wake up cuz he can sleep thru anything. I think I would wake him up though if he were home. Thanks again for the story. It's WAY funny and you'll be glad you wrote it down.

I laughed almost to tears. I think we better hold off on ordering the new pistol Ian has had his eye on.
