Here are a few things that have happened around here these past couple of weeks. As soon as we got back from Mexico, Gunner's binkie's got "lost" at Grandma's house. It only took that first night of crying a little for a half hour, and then he only asked for them a couple other times. Like it was for Malia, the binkie was more for Mom and Dad than for him, he couldn't care less now.
The next thing is Gunner is potty trained! I figured it was easier to just wipe and dump than changing diapers with my wrist. And depending on what you consider potty trained, he was pretty much trained in one day! By the 2nd day he was going both and had no accidents. He has even started staying dry during nap time. He is very good at going all by himself, and the only way I would know he was going was I would hear YEAH!! CLAP!!! We then moved the top of his potty to the big potty and he thinks he is such a big boy now for going on the big one. We now only have to conquer going at places other than the house, and he is doing good now too. At church it was the hardest he needed to go but the first time trying it without his seat he was a little scared, so would only do a little squirt and want off. He would just hold it, until Ian showed him how to do it standing up. He went right away. Good thing he hasn't connected that at home yet.
The next thing is I got the pins taken out of my wrist!!

Yeah! But wow, I still can't move my wrist, I will be going to physical therapy for a while. I also got graduated from this ugly splint that I wore for 5 weeks..
To this one for two more weeks.
Then last, we finally planted our grass!! With my wrist, typical Oregon weather that didn't copperate very well, either way too wet, or way too hot, and a few minor glitches with the sprinkler system, we had way too many setbacks, and got it in almost a month later than planned, but it's in. And hopefully by the end of July we can actually appreciate it. Here are a few of the pictures from the looonngg process.
First the tractor...

Then the rolling, thank goodness for a 4 wheeler!

Then lots and lots of raking, and then lots and lots of more raking.

Then the sprinkler system..

Then lime, fertilizer, seed, mulch, and more rolling.
And voila....
(this is not dead grass, it is the mulch)

If it actually grows I will post pictures when it is green :)
Now maybe we can enjoy our summer instead of spending every minute working, there is still more little things to do, but we are going to be busy the rest of the summer with fun things!!!

We should get together sometime. BBQ or a park..
Glad you're making some progress with your wrist. It's hard when you have things you want to do and can't. Hang in there.
Your yard is coming along nice. It's always good to see something you did yourself. Great work!
It sounds like things are definitely looking up at the McOmie househould. I'm sure you are glad to finally have those huge pins taken out of your wrist. You're amazing, I don't know that I would be able to handle it as well as you have. Kudos to Ian for putting in countless hours on your lawn. Very impressive! I'm sure you'll have grass growing in no time at all. I think we need to live closer to you guys when we have a house and yard that needs some fixing up. You do excellent work!
WOW you guys have been busy with your yard! CONGRATS on getting it done. Can't wait to see pics when the grass starts growing. HOW NICE! Hooray for Gunner being potty trained and you getting your pins out. I'm sure that's a relief.
I'm so jealous you have grass!! That was our goal for this summer but we've just been way too busy. Maybe by next summer...
I also can't believe that Gunner is potty-trained! That is awesome! We were planning on training Nathan as soon as we got back from our trip. I'm not looking forward to it but hopefully he learns as quick as Gunner!
Your place is looking great. We can't wait to see it and also you guys!
See ya soon.
Those nails are pretty gross! Did your kids freak out by them? Glad you are getting better. Can't wait to see your green grass.
Hi, you don't know me but I grew up with your husband! I moved away when I was 11. My maiden name is Jennifer Lash.
I was trying to find some of my childhood friends and since girl's change their maiden name when they get married, I'm having a hard time trying to find people! I've tried looking up some of the guys names I remember and found your blog! If you wouldn't mind, could you ask Ian if he knows anything or how to contact:
Mindy Anderson
Crystal Hatchet
Holly Spears
Julie Turner
Irene Walker
Britney Garsten
It would be fun to see how/where they are now.
Please feel free to visit my blog too.
Sorry to hear about your wrist, YIKES! Your family is adorable! I can't believe how much your daughter looks like you and Andree at the same time. Your boy looks a lot like his Daddy, how fun!
You married into a great family. They were so nice to my family and even helped us fix up our house so we could move.
You two have been busy....I am so happy to hear your wrist is getting better! Your yard looks awesome and I am excited to see the grass pictures! With all the rain you get up there it shouldn't take long. I hope we get to see you guys soon. Tell Ian to keep up the good work. He's a hard workin' man! You scored when you married him ;)
