Introducing.....

Cooper Bracken McOmie
March 21, 2009 11:07 pm
7 lbs 10 oz 19 inches

For those of you that care here is the gory :) details, for those that don't, scroll down for more pictures.
Friday at my appt. my Dr. checked me and I was dilated to a 4, and she stripped my membranes. She really expected me to go into labor within 24 hours. We thought maybe, but most likely not. And if we did, my Dr. was not going to be there.
Sat. morning we had lots of plans, clean house, and then go do some last shopping, also so I could walk around, we thought it would be a perfect day to go into labor. (I know wishful thinking) Ian let me sleep in, while he cleaned a little bit, then I got up to cut his hair. Well, I was just about done when I felt a gush, and I ran to the other bathroom. I have never had my water break by itself, so I didn't really know if that was what it was because it was really bloody, and with my other two the baby came within about an hour of them breaking my water, so we kind of started to freak out because with being GBS + with this pregnancy, I had to have the antibiotic 4 hours before delivery. I called the hospital and they told me to come in. The kids were playing dress up and Ian had hair all over him, so he just jumped in the shower quick while I threw some clothes in a bag for the kids, and told them to get dressed.
We rushed to the hospital, and they needed me to do a urine sample, but a huge clot came out. They checked me and I was at a 5, and she wasn't sure if my water had broken because of the blood. She called the Dr. on call who happened to be Dr. Bair, (he is a Stake Pres. up here, (but not mine) for those that don't know, and an awesome Dr.) and so we were happy, even though it wasn't my Dr. He told them to keep me, and get the antibiotic started. So I got checked in my room and the antibiotic started about 2:30. I was having little contractions, but nothing that I really noticed. So we just walked around and hung out until 6:30 so they could give me my second dose, and then they started pitocin because Dr. Bair would be in at 7pm. They started cranking the pictocin up every 20 min. and I was having contractions, just nothing that I could really feel, and I could walk through them. The contractions were coming about every 2-3 minutes, and so Dr. Bair came in to check me at about 9:30pm and said I was still a 5 and my water had not broken, so he broke my water at 9:41pm. About 10 minutes later I had an actual real contraction that I had to breath through. I started having them about every 3 mins. I was still trying to do it without an epidural, but at 10:30pm I was about to change my mind. The nurse came in to check me and I was at a 7, so she helped me get into a different standing position, and I had about 2 or 3 more contractions, and I could tell I was going through transition. About 2 more contractions and she paged Dr. Bair, who they would not let leave the floor because of going so fast with my last ones. She got me back into bed as Dr. Bair came in, and she checked me and said there was just a little lip left and so let me have 2 more contractions, and then Dr. Bair checked me and said okay on the next one you can push. I pushed through about 3 contractions so about 6-7 times and he was out at 11:07pm, with a nice little c-cection head they said, and a really bruised face because he came down and out so fast.
He is just perfect for being 10 days early, and started eating and sleeping really good right off. So far he seems to be a pretty calm and content baby. I had a few problems with hemorrhaging right after they got me moved to my room, which was not fun! I have never seen so much blood clots! Thank goodness for modern medicine, and they got it stopped after some more pitocin and a shot and some pills.
We were able to go home Monday. Cooper is doing really good, and Malia and Gunner are doing really good with him, and they just love him! Gunner even had to read him a story last night before bed, and Malia is the perfect big sister.
Here are a few more pictures.
