So we just returned from a week long camping trip. It is the last that we have planned for vacations. We have been gone so much! It's actually nice to be home now and not have any plans! I am going to try to catch up from the Family Reunion we went to 2 days after we got back from Utah. It was the Weaver Reunion on Ian's side. It was in Southeastern Oregon. So we made the almost 6 hour drive right after our 16 hour drive back from Utah! The kids were little troopers considering! We joked with all the traveling we have done these past few weeks, that Gunner (with his potty training) has left his mark all across the state of Oregon. He has perfected the find a rock on the side of the road to go on, and get right back in the carseat. Thank goodness for boys and the ease of going potty on the side of the road!
The reunion was at some of the relatives property by Silver Lake. We stayed a few miles away at Summer Lake Lodge in these cute little cabins.
It was right next to this little pond so the kids got to fish for the very first time! Malia was all over it, and loved it! Gunner on the other hand got kind of freaked out, but we finally got him to touch the fish.
We also went on a few hikes in the blistering heat I might add! :) The first was to Crack in the Ground. It was just that, a 70 foot deep 2 mile long volcanic fissure. It was so nice to be down in the crack because it was so much cooler!!
Another day we went on this wild goose chase pretty much looking for these supposed fossils, but we couldn't find them after walking really far out in the middle of nowhere in the heat and dust.
We also hiked this trail where we saw a bunch of petroglyphs, but that's how cool they were, we didn't take any pictures, or maybe we left our camera in the car. Again this was in the blistering heat. :) Gunner fell asleep in the backpack on the way back to the car, and I think we all felt like that too!
On our way home we stopped at Fort Rock.
There was this little museum (that was closed) of the Fort Rock Village. It's a collection of homestead buildings from the early 1900's moved there to preserve them from vandalism.
And the kids were just happy to get out of the car any time we stopped!

Sounds like fun. Some of those pictures look like they could be southern Utah.
What a fun vacation! You have been busy vacationing, good for you!
Looks like you guys had a great time, loved the cabin. I think it is hilarious Malia wanted the fish and not Gunner. So by the way thanks for posting all your family on the side and their updates I always check yours to see if I need to check theirs. You will have to let me know how to do that.
Well you've really had a great summer. My hubby was glad to see you're teaching your kids to fish young. (he basically thinks fishing is the greatest thing in the world.)
It's always nice to be home after traveling, except for all the laundry. :)
Such Cute pictures! Your fish videos are Hillarious! Looks like lots of Fun! Miss you guys! Cari
